CSI’s story began in 1985 when a local fire department contracted with CSI Industrial Systems to refurbish a fire apparatus. The project was a resounding success, and the news spread quickly. Request for similar work poured in, and the company was born!
As the demand for specialized emergency vehicles grew, CSI created the CSI Fire Truck Division in 1989. For the next 10 years, CSI Industrial Systems shared its facilities and equipment with the new division. With the continued growth of both companies, space was at a premium, and the need for expansion became apparent. In 1995, CSI Fire Truck Division moved to its own facility in the Grayling Industrial Park. With the company’s move into its own new facility, the company changed its name to CSI Emergency Apparatus.
In 2002, CSI Industrial Systems sold CSI Emergency Apparatus as an asset management buyout to key management within the company. The managers had been running the company since 1989 and brought with them over 60 years of combined experience in truck building, manufacturing as well as more than 30 years of firefighting experience.
